by Ronald George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Psalm 146   (Read Responsively) Praise to the Lord who is the One we remember.
Leader:  1 Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, O my soul.
People:  2 I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Leader:  3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.
People:   4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Leader:  5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.
People:   6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them— the Lord, who remains faithful forever.
Leader:  7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free,
People:  8 the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous.
Leader:  9 The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
People:  10 The Lord reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the Lord.

  1. Part I:  What is praise?  It is admiration, commendation, approval, acclaim, tribute, applause, compliment, and recommendation.
  2. What is worship?  It is worship, honor, adoration, devotion, glory, celebration, blessing, and thanks.
  3. How do we glorify?  We honr, laud, worship, adore, exalt, magnify, bless, and celebrate.
  4. Praise to the Lord from the one who knows Him,
  5. Praise to the Lord from the one who recognizes all He does, and
  6. Praise to the Lord from the one who draws their life from Him.
  7. Praise to the Lord from the those who live in Him.
  8. Praise to the Lord from the one who who doesn’t put their trust in the rulers and princes of this world.
  9. Why not praise the rulers of this world?  They will die like we all do.  They cannot truly save you.  Their help is short lived and often full of holes and pitfalls.  Their lives are short and their spirit departs Their plans will be left undone when they leave this world.
  10. Praise to the Lord from the one whose help comes from God.
  11. Praise to the Lord from the one whose hope is built on the one true eternal God.
  12. Praise to the Lord who is the one who died and rose again.
  13. Praise to the Lord who gave His life that we may live.
