July 22, 2012pm   Don’t sleep while  Counting  Sheep.      Jeremiah 23:1-6

by Ron George Jr.at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

Who are the shepherds?  Does counting sheep put you to sleep?   Then you need to take a closer look at those who are under your CARE.
Jeremiah 23     “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing,” declares the Lord. 5 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up to Davida a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.

Responsibility of the shepherd.  Who is the shepherd?

  1. C.A.R.E. =  Christians Are Reaching Everyone.  Are you a CARE giver?
  2. Do you have any sheep?  Who is the shepherd?
  3. Have we scattered the flock?  Do we care about them?  How are the sheep scattered?
  4. God will gather them and bless them.  He wants to use us.  He wants us to CARE.
  5. Will we be a shepherd that will tend to the flock?
  6. The sheep will be safe and not afraid or terrified.  They will all be accounted for.
  7. A Great Shepherd King will come.
  8. God’s people will be saved and live in safety.
  9. He is called the Lord Our Righteousness.  He Who does what is right for us.
  10. We work as shepherds continually looking for that day.
