July 27, 2008am   A Living Blessing    Psalm 128

by Ron George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church

A Blessing is something that God does in your life that makes you happy.  God’s blessing are often attributed to human achievement, but when you think of the origins of life we have to recognize that God is the source of life and blessing.  The Psalmist in 128 shows us that blessed are those who fear the Lord and walk in his ways.

Psalm 128:1 Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. 2 You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. 3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table. 4 Thus is the man blessed who fears the Lord. 5 May the Lord bless you from Zion all the days of your life; may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem, 6 and may you live to see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel.

A.  Fear the Lord and Walk in His ways.  Then:
What does it mean to fear the Lord and walk in His ways?  Are you ?  Can you?  Will you?

  1. Fear the Lord:  Respect and reverence the One True Living God.  Who is He to you?  Have you recognized God as your God?  Receive Him.

2.  Walk in His ways:  Act as if you believe in the Lord.  Do we do what He wants us to do?  Worship, Service, and Giving are the marks of a believer.

B.  The Result and the promise:
