29, 2004 am Synchronized
Living Matthew 4:18-20
By Ronald E. George Jr. at the Fayetteville Baptist Church
Synchronized swimming is one of the sports of the XXVIII Olympiad. In this game the contestants perform swimming gymnastics with others on the team. The catch is that all of the actions must be done together. Judging the Synchronized swimming and diving are based largely on their ability to stay together with their fellow swimmers and divers. I think I could be a Synchronized eater or sleeper in the next Olympics. How about synchronized dog walking, car washing, or grass mowing? What is synchronized living? Synchronized living is a lifestyle that we choose after accepting an invitation from Jesus to Come follow Him. He will make us fishers of men. Today as we come to the baptism pool we have witnessed some folks who have said they wanted to follow Jesus. Therefore they have come to be baptized.
Matthew 4:18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
Come Follow Me.
The Lordís invitation is to come with me. This is given to all. Would you join the Lord?
Come fishing with me. Letís go fishiní for men. Come synchronize your life with the Lord.
Yes, But How?
In the synchronized living contest we are invited to go with the Lord, but have you seen Him lately? Where is he? He is within you and me. So synchronized living with the Lord means synchronized living with others. Being and doing with God and with others.
If we are walking with the Lord then we are walking, working, and worshiping with others.
What has God done and what is He inviting us to do?
1John 4:11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1Pet. 1:15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
Mat. 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Luke 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Hebr 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Eph. 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Would you synchronize your living with the Lord? Will you go with the Lord or will you go with yourself and go alone? The disciples at once left their fishing nets and followed the Lord. Will you go with the Lord and synchronize your life with his?
